Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

The Hudson Valley Renegades returned home for the first time in two weeks, defeating the Brooklyn Cyclones, 8-2, in the first game of the home and road series. The 'Gades improved to 30-31 on the season in front of 5,076 fans at Dutchess Stadium and moved to within 4.5 games of Batavia for the Wild Card spot.

In the top of the first inning, the Renegades batted around, sending ten men to the plate and scoring all of the runs they needed for the victory. Hudson Valley collected six hits, drew a walk, and took advantage of a two-out error. When the inning ended, the Renegades had tied their single-inning high with six runs and led 6-0.

Renegades starter Zach Rosscup (2-0) captured his second win of the season, surrendering just three hits and two runs in 5.2 innings. Rosscup also struck out 10 Cyclones hitters, eclipsing the previous Hudson Valley season-high of nine (by Wilmer Almonte on 7/28 @ Vermont). Nate Garcia relieved Rosscup, earning a save with 3.1 hitless innings, including five strikeouts and no walks. Rosscup and Garcia combined for 15 strikeouts, the second highest single-game total by the Hudson Valley pitching staff in 2010.

Robby Price (2-for-3, 2R) doubled and scored in the seventh for the 'Gades seventh run, and Junior Rodriguez (2-for-4,2R. 2 RBI) capped the scoring with a long home run to left field in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Renegades hit the road tomorrow for the back end of the home-and-home with Brooklyn. First pitch from MCU Park will be thrown at 7:05pm.
