NORWICH-The Tri-City ValleyCats (31-30) scored 10 runs on 14 hits to beat the Connecticut Tigers (30-32) by a score of 10-2 before 797 fans at Dodd Stadium on Monday night.

The ValleyCats scored two runs in the first inning against Connecticut LHP Rayni Guichardo (3-4). SS Ben Orloff (1-4) walked and moved to second base on a ground out by 2B Kike Hernandez 91-5). Orloff stole third and scored on a wild pitch for a 1-0 lead.

Both 3B Tyler Burnett (1-4) and CF Daniel Adamson (1-4) walked. Burnett moved to third base on the wild pitch and scored on a ground out by RF Michael Kvasnicka for a 2-0 lead.

C Christopher Wallace (1-4) led off the second inning with a solo home run to make it 3-0 Tri-City.

The Tigers scored a single run in the fourth inning. 2B Alexander Nunez (2-4) doubled and scored on a single by 1B James Robbins (1-4) to put Connecticut on the scoreboard at 3-1.

In the Connecticut fifth inning, 3B Josh Ashenbrenner (1-3) singled, advanced to second base on a past ball, and moved to third base on a wild pitch. With SS Ryan Soares (1-2) reaching base on a walk, the Tigers tried a double-steal. Soares took off from first and Ashenbrenner scored from third base to bring the Tigers within one run at 3-2. The ValleyCats scored four runs over the sixth and seventh innings to balloon their lead to 7-2.

The Tigers head to the road on Tuesday to begin a four-game road trip and wrap up the home-and-home series against the Tri-City ValleyCats in Troy, NY. RHP Josue Carreno (4-6, 4.21) gets the start for the Connecticut Tigers against RHP Bobby Doran (4-4, 4.24) for the ValleyCats.
