Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release
State College, PA - The Mahoning Valley Scrappers won the rubber match of a three-game series against the State College Spikes tonight 4-1 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
The Scrappers improved to 27-36 on the season, while the Spikes fell to 30-32 in 2010.
Casey Gaynor picked up his fifth win of the season for the Scrappers pitching 5.1 shutout innings, giving up just three hits and striking out four.
J.D. Reichenbach recorded the save working a scoreless 2.2 innings and striking out two.
Brook Pounders suffered the loss for the Spikes pitching two innings of relief and giving up two runs on two hits.
Chase Burnette's hit streak ended at 13 games with his 0-4 night, but the Scrappers were lead offensively by Trent Baker, who went 1-3 with a double, a RBI and a run scored.
The Scrappers and Spikes both travel to Eastwood Field to begin a three-game series tomorrow night. First pitch for game one of the series is at 7:05 p.m.
