
Stars Win Overtime Thriller at Blue

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, pushed their club-long (Salt Lake City era) win streak to nine games after defeating the Oklahoma City Blue 98-96 in overtime on Wednesday night at Cox Convention Center.
The Stars' top three scorers came off the bench, led by Trevon Bluiett, who tallied 18 points, nine of which came from beyond the arc. Mike Scott added 17 points, four rebounds and a team-high five assists. William Howard, who ranks second in the NBA G League in three-point percentage (.518), posted 14 points, four rebounds and two assists, while Utah Jazz assignment player Juwan Morgan finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and a career-high-tying four blocks. Kyle Collinsworth came up big down the stretch for the Stars, scoring nine of his 11 points in the fourth quarter and his final two in overtime.
The Blue were led by Myke Henry, who scored a game-high 24 points, knocking down 4-of-8 (.500) from three. Oklahoma City Thunder assignment player Deonte Burton posted a double-double performance with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Abdul Gaddy finished with 17 points, six rebounds and a game-high eight assists, while Kadeem Jack added 10 points and four rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench for the Blue.
Oklahoma City jumped out on a 7-0 run to start the game and held a six-point (22-16) lead at the end of the first quarter. The second period saw two lead changes and one tie, but the Blue came out on top taking a nine-point (46-37) lead into intermission. Oklahoma City held the Stars to just 37 first half points, a season-low for Salt Lake City.
The Blue carried their lead through the third quarter, taking an eight-point (68-60) advantage going in to the final frame. The Stars came up big in the fourth quarter, outscoring Oklahoma City 34-26 behind 12 points from Howard, 11 points from Scott and nine from Collinsworth. With 7.5 seconds left to play in the fourth, Salt Lake City held a three-point lead (91-94), but Burton knocked down a three-point jumper for the Blue to tie it up at 94-all and send the game to overtime.
The Stars outscored Oklahoma City 4-2 in the two-minute overtime period to pick up their first win against the Blue in club history (Salt Lake City era).
The Stars held the advantage in second chance points (16-7), turnovers (13-16), rebounds (51-49) and assists (23-20), while the Blue tallied more fast break points (15-6), grabbed more steals (9-7) and knocked down more three-pointers (10-9).
Salt Lake City will stay in Oklahoma City to face off against the Blue again on Friday, Dec. 13 at Cox Convention Center. The game, which tips off at 6 p.m. (MT), will be broadcast live on NBAGLeague.com.
