Oklahoma City Blue News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Blue (4-7) fell to the Salt Lake City Stars (9-2), 98-96, in overtime on Wednesday night.

With 50.2 seconds left in overtime, Salt Lake City's Jarrell Brantley scored the go-ahead layup for the Stars. Oklahoma City's next two three-point attempts rimmed out, giving the Stars the victory.

It marked the first overtime game for both teams this season. Salt Lake City's 98 points were a season low for a Blue opponent this season.

Oklahoma City was in control for much of the second half, going up by as many as nine points in the fourth quarter. After a three-pointer from Myke Henry put the Blue up 81-73, the Stars responded with a 10-2 run to tie the game at 83 apiece. The teams went back and forth for the remainder of the quarter, but a three-pointer from Thunder assignment player Deonte Burton tied the game at 94-all with 5.8 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime.

"I thought we executed the game plan well," Head Coach Grant Gibbs said. "We were physical and really contested shots well. They caught a rhythm late and there were some things we would like to do differently in those situations, but the overall performance was much better than the product we put on the floor to date."

Burton finished with 14 points, a game-high-tying 11 rebounds and three assists for his first double-double this season. Fellow assignment player Justin Patton tallied eight points, five rebounds and four blocks.

Oklahoma City's defense was strong to open the game, holding the Stars to one basket over the first seven minutes of the game. The Stars would go on an 11-0 run in the quarter, but the Blue still led 22-16 after one.

The Blue led 46-37 at halftime behind 12 first-half points from Myke Henry. Henry led the way for Oklahoma City with 24 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists while Abdul Gaddy added 17 points, eight assists and six rebounds.

Trevon Bluiett led the way for Salt Lake City, scoring 18 points on 4-of-8 shooting.

The Blue will return to action on Friday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. for a rematch with the Stars in Cox Convention Center.
