
Stars Take Charge in First Regular Season Victory

CLEVELAND, OH - The Salt Lake City Stars (1-2), the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, secured their first victory of the regular season Tuesday night, as six Stars players reached double figures. With the help of an efficient 38-point first quarter, Salt Lake City overcame the Cleveland Charge (Cleveland Cavaliers Affiliate) 126-113.
The Stars were led by Utah Jazz two-way guard Johnny Juzang, who notched a team-high 25 points off the bench on 4-of-8 shooting from three, in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Guard Romeo Langford added 16 points on seven made baskets, and added two assists. Guard Isaiah Miller chipped in 16 points, nine rebounds, and six assists in 25 minutes off the bench. Meanwhile, Utah Jazz two-way guard Josh Christopher put up 15 points, six rebounds, and six assists along with a pair of steals.
The Stars caught fire in the first quarter, shooting .667 from the floor. Tied at seven, Salt Lake City outscored Cleveland 31-13 to take a commanding 38-20 lead. Romeo Langford scored eight of his 16 points in the quarter as the Stars pushed their advantage over the Charge to 22, ending the first half 67-45.
The third quarter was a high scoring frame, with the Stars and Charge combining for 77 points. Salt Lake City stretched their lead to its largest at 26, closing the quarter 104-85. In the final frame the Stars shot just .368, allowing the Charge to draw within eight points with just 6 minutes left on the clock. Josh Christopher stepped up, scoring 11 of his total 15 points in the fourth on 4-of-5 shooting, to guide the Stars to the 126-113 win.
Cleveland Charge guard Sharife Cooper led all scorers with 28 points to go along with six rebounds, and five assists. Cleveland Cavaliers assignment player Emoni Bates, added 27 points, seven rebounds and one block in 36 minutes for the Charge.
Salt Lake City returns home to the Maverik Center on Thursday, Jan. 4 to take on the Rip City Remix in the first ever regular season meeting of the two teams. The contest tips off at 7 p.m. MT and will be broadcast LIVE on Jazz+ and ESPN+.
