
Stars Stop Squadron in First Road Victory of the Regular Season

SALT LAKE CITY - Micah Potter's impressive 9-of-15 shooting, and Frank Jackson's 29-point contribution shot the Stars straight to victory on Friday night. Salt Lake City (3-5) claimed their first contest against Birmingham in the first game of their back-to-back set at the Legacy Center.
Jackson led all scorers for the second straight game, totaling 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field. Potter impressed with 27 points, netting five-of-seven from behind the arc to go with six rebounds. Johnny Juzang came off the bench to add 25 points, seven rebounds, and five assists and saw 30 minutes of action. Guard Rawle Alkins led the team with 13 rebounds and contributed 17 points on the night.
The first quarter saw a back-and-forth contest with six lead changes and five ties. However, Jackson and Juzang contributed 12 points in just the first half, pushing Salt Lake to a five-point lead as they entered the break 53-48. Jackson put on an All-Star worthy performance in the third, notching 15 points in just 9:23 minutes of play. The fourth quarter belonged to the Stars as they held the biggest lead of the night with 30 points and less than four minutes remaining. Salt Lake City grabbed their first road win of the regular season, closing out Birmingham 132-110.
All five of the Squadron's starters scored in double-digits, led by Feron Hunt's 214 points. Guard Javonte Smart chipped in 21 points on 7-of-15 from the field and 3-of-7 from behind the line. James Kelly, Sr. dished out a game-high 14 rebounds.
The Stars will face-off once more against the Birmingham Squadron tomorrow, before heading to Texas to wrap up their road-trip against the Legends on Monday, Jan. 16 at 2:30 p.m. (MT). The Stars will then return home to host the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Thursday, Jan. 19 at Vivint Arena.
