Magic Fall to the Swarm in Overtime

The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, fall to the Greensboro Swarm 136-133 on Friday at the George Jenkins Arena.
The first quarter was back and forth as four lead changes happened until the Swarm went on an eight - two-run. The Swarm took off and led the Magic by 10, the Magic had turned things around and went on a 10-0 to tie it up 30-30 with 1:55 remaining. Greensboro guard Kobi Simmons had 13 first-quarter points helping the Swarm lead the Magic 39-32 at the end of the first.
The second quarter was all Greensboro, the Swarm had led by double digits for most of the quarter. The Swarm had a team effort with four players in double digits sinking 11 three-point shots. Greensboro led Lakeland 73-58 at the end of the half.
The third quarter was a comeback show for Lakeland as forward Aleem Ford had 15 points on five made three-point shots erasing the 20-point lead. Swarm guard Jalen Crutcher hit a three-point field goal to give Greensboro the lead at the end of the third at 95-92.
The Magic built on their momentum through the fourth quarter. Lakeland got their first lead of the game since the first quarter 111-110 with 6:58 remaining in the game after a made three from Ford. Ford broke a Lakeland Magic record with 10 made three-point field goals. Crutcher of Greensboro hit a clutch three-point shot to tie the game up and go into overtime at 129-129. Isaiah Whaley of the Swarm hit a putback shot to win the game 136-133.
Kobe Simmons finished with 28 points, eight rebounds, and five assists for the Swarm. Isaiah Whaley had a double-double scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds.
Aleem Ford finished with a game-high 32 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Zavier Simpson finished with 22 points, six assists, and three rebounds. R.J. Hampton had 23 points off the bench for the Magic.
The Lakeland Magic (4-3) will face the Greensboro Swarm on Saturday, January 14 at the George Jenkins Arena at 7:00 PM on Bally Sports Florida.
