Stars Split Series with Wolves

Des Moines, IA - The Salt Lake City Stars (2-5), the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, fell to the Iowa Wolves (2-6) (Minnesota Timberwolves affiliate), 122-111, to conclude their back-to-back set at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Stars were led by Utah Jazz assignment player Brice Sensabaugh, scoring 26 points, to go with eight rebounds and two assists. Off the bench, Utah Jazz two-way guard Johnny Juzang, added 21 points, grabbing two rebounds, and serving five assists. Jazz two-way player Micah Potter, tallied 18 points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Fellow two-way Jason Preston, filled the stat line with 12 points, seven rebounds, and 14 assists.

The Stars started off strong with back-to-back baskets, before taking a 10-5 lead at the start of the first. However, Salt Lake City lost the lead, finishing the frame trailing by 18. The Stars made a push in the second, outscoring the Wolves 32-22 in the second, cutting the Wolves' lead to single digits, 50-42.

The visitors continued to fight back in a competitive third quarter that ended with Iowa just three points ahead as the teams headed into the final frame, 76-73. However, the Iowa Wolves captured the final victory 122-111, taking the second game of the back-to-back set.

Iowa Wolves guard Tyrese Martin led the game with a season high 31 points on 11-of-21 shooting, and 11 rebounds. Lance Stephenson gave a triple-double performance, recording 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. D.J. Carton put up 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field.

The Stars return to Salt Lake City for their annual Kids Day Game with over 5,000 fifth graders in attendance from local Granite and Jordan school districts, to take on the Oklahoma City Blue at Delta Center. The contest tips off at 10:30 a.m. MT and will be broadcast LIVE on Jazz+ and NBAGLeague.com.
