
Stars slip past IceHogs

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (29-17-3-3, 64 points) defeated the Rockford IceHogs (20-23-3-4, 47 points) 2-1 on Saturday night in front of 5,588 fans at Cedar Park Center. Left Wing Ondrej Roman scored the game-winning goal on the power play 8:57 into the second period. Roman also tallied an assist in the first period to secure a multi-point night. Texas goalie Richard Bachman (19-11-3) blocked 23 shots, bringing the Stars record at home to 16-8-3-2. Rockford goalie Alec Richards (10-16-1) stopped 23 of 25 shots faced for the loss. Texas will travel to Lake Erie on Monday, February 14th at 6:00 PM.
Texas left wing Brandon Segal scored the first period's lone goal with ten seconds remaining in the opening frame. Left wing Ondrej Roman played the puck to the net and Segal tipped the shot for his fourth goal of the year and a 1-0 Stars lead. Defenseman Maxime Fortunus also picked up an assist on the play.
Roman notched a power-play goal for the Stars 8:57 into the second period. The second Texas goal of the night marked Roman's sixth goal of the season. Defenseman Dan Spang and right wing Greg Rallo each helped to extend the lead to 2-0 Stars.
Rockford center Ryan Potulny tipped in a power-play goal at 5:56 of the third period. Defenseman Shawn Lalonde and center Peter LeBlanc each tallied an assist for a 2-1 final.
The Stars begin an eight-game road trip on Monday, February 14th at 6:00 PM (CT) at the Lake Erie Monsters. Texas returns home to face the Oklahoma City Barons on Sunday, February 27th at 5:00 PM.
