
Stars Shut out in Tri-City

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (6-10-1) failed to generate much offense, dropping the game 5-0 against the Tri-City Storm (11-7-1) Friday night at Viaero Center.
Hunter Strand struck on the power play 7:39 into the first period, giving the home team some early momentum. Gavin Brindley added another goal at 9:18, but Lincoln was unable to match Tri-City's start in the first 20 minutes. The Stars trailed 2-0 and were outshot 16-4.
Strand would pick up another goal at 11:50 of the middle frame, this time shorthanded, increasing the Storm's lead to 3-0. After 40 minutes, Tri-City controlled the game, including a 27-7 lead in shots on goal. Lincoln was awarded four power plays in the period, but was unable to take advantage.
Cole McWard continued the momentum for Tri-City by scoring 1:08 into the third period. Hunter Strand picked up the hat trick at 9:39.
Lincoln was 0-for-7 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill. Todd Scott turned aside 16 shots for his first shutout of the season. Ryan Ouellette made 31 saves in the loss.

The Stars will look to bounce back in a rematch with the Storm tomorrow night at the Ice Box at 7:05 p.m.!
