Junior Lessard has been chosen to participate in two of the Skills Competition Events. Lessard, along with Nathan Paetsch of Rochester, will take part in the RepeatSeat Rapid Fire Contest against goalie Pekka Rinne of Milwaukee. The team with the most total saves earns a goal. The Quebec native will then skate in round two of the CCM Vector Breakaway Relay, where every goal will count towards the overall team score.

The two-game set will fulfill the road portion of the four-game season series with the Moose. Manitoba comes to Iowa on March 4th and 5th--- Manitoba is currently in sixth place in the AHL at the All-Star break. Their 64 points has them in fourth place in the Western Conference--- Manitoba is the second-most penalized team in the Western Conference with 1224 PIM's--- They are 6-2-1-1 in their last 10 games--- Goalie Wade Flaherty and forward Jimmy Roy will represent the Moose for the Canadian All-Stars, while Sven Butenschon will play for PlanetUSA.

The Stars welcome Chicago back to Wells Fargo Arena on 2 for 1 TUESDAY! Despite losing 6-3 in their last meeting, the Stars still hold a 5-1 advantage in the 10-game season series--- Ramzi Abid paces the Wolves with 48 points, including a team-high 23 goals. His 13 power-play goals have him tied for second in the AHL for that category--- At print time, Chicago has a 16-20-2-6 record and is currently riding a four-game losing streak--- With 1156 penalty minutes, they are third-most penalized team in the Western Conference--- Of their 22 road games, six have ended in shootout losses--- The Wolves have used six goaltenders this season. Only Lowell, Providence and San Antonio, all with six, have used that many--- Chicago has yet to record a shutout this season--- Brian Sipotz is among the League leaders with a ‘plus 15' rating.

- Kyle Brodziak is currently in the midst of a four-game point-streak that has him with two goals, four assists and a ‘plus 6' rating: 4(2/4/6)+6
- Iowa has scored the first goal in 13 straight games and in 27 of their 45 games. They are 15-10-1-1 overall, including 10-3-1-1 at home when they net the maiden-marker.

NOTES: The Iowa Stars and Houston Aeros met for the first time this season at Wells Fargo Arena on Thursday. The Stars special teams was the difference in this one, scoring three power-play goals en-route to a 6-4 victory over the AHL's second place team. Goaltender Mike Smith picked-up his second assist of the season on Loui Eriksson's goal. Iowa's Kyle Brodziak, Yan Stastny and Jamie Johnson all found the back of the net for Iowa in the second period. All three Iowa goals came in a span of 3:30. Johnson's power-play goal was the 11th time that Iowa has recorded at least two power-play goals in a game. Iowa improved to 17-2-1-0 overall and 11-1-1-0 at home when they take a lead into the third period.

NOTES: The Iowa Stars and Omaha Knights met for their final regular season meeting at Wells Fargo Arena Saturday night. Iowa was unable to hold on to the lead and fell 3-2 in a shootout in front of their largest crowd in team history, 8,842 fans. For the twelfth consecutive time and twenty-sixth time overall, the Stars registered the maiden-marker of the game when defenseman Dan Jancevski put the Stars ahead at 8:15 of the first period.

NOTES: The Iowa Stars and Grand Rapids Griffins concluded their regular-season series on Sunday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena. The Stars sent their fans home happy, securing a 4-3 win via the shootout over the Western Conference's Top-place Griffins. In all four games, the home team has earned the win. Forward Yan Stastny started the night off right for the Stars, scoring his 10th goal of the season just 2:50 into the first period. Kyle Brodziak extended his point-streak to four games with an assist on the goal. Brodziak has registered two goals and four assists in that span: 4(2/4/6). Junior Lessard, earned the assist on Toby Petersen's goal. Lessard now has 22 points, including 12 assists, in his last 18 games: 18(10/12/22). After a scoreless overtime period, the Stars played their second shootout in as many games. However, unlike last night, Iowa was able to solve Griffin's goalie Jimmy Howard twice during the shootout and gain the all-important two points in the standings. Vojtech Polak and Jamie Johnson scored in the shootout, with Johnson's marker being the deciding goal. Stars goaltender Mike Smith shutdown the AHL's top-ranked power-play unit, allowing just one goal in six man-down situations. Smith finished with 40 saves, including 16 in the third period alone.
