Regehr in for Giordano at AHL All-Star event

WINNIPEG, Man. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights defenseman Richie Regehr will replace teammate Mark Giordano on the Canadian roster for the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic, which gets underway tonight at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg.

Giordano was recalled by the parent Calgary Flames on Monday. Regehr, 23, will be making his first AHL All-Star appearance. The second-year pro has recorded three goals and 17 assists in 36 games for Omaha this season. A native of Rosthern, Sask., Regehr made his NHL debut with the Flames last month, and has appeared in 10 NHL games with Calgary.

Regehr's older brother, Robyn, is an AHL graduate and currently plays for the Flames.
