Yesterday Geoff Peters was named the Pirates Player of the Week. Peters scored three goals this weekend and currently has a four game point-scoring streak heading into the Pirates game against Hamilton on Friday.

The American Hockey League and B2 Networks have announced that the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic will be broadcast live and at no charge from the MTS Centre in Winnipeg on B2 Networks. Due to the recent call ups of Dustin Penner, Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Shannon will be the only Pirates representative in Winnipeg. Catch Ryan Shannon in action on B2 Networks tonight in the 2006 CCM AHL All-Star Skills Competition and on Wednesday, February 1st in the 2006 AHL All-Star Game. Coverage both nights begins at 8:00 p.m. (ET).

12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Cheverus High School vs. Cape Elizabeth High School

4:05 p.m. Portland Pirates vs. Hartford Wolf Pack

During Intermission: High school players from around the state will compete in two skills compete in two skills competitions during each of the two intermissions at the Pirates game. The four skill contests will be hardest shot, fastest skater, shot accuracy and stick handling/agility. Post Game: Continuation of Salty Pete's Skate (1 hour)

IN THE COMMUNITY

On Tuesday, February 7th, Pirates players will be at the Friendly's location in Portland from 6:00-7:00 p.m. to help raise money for the "Cones for Kids" program to benefit the Easter Seals.

On Monday, February 13th, Pirates players will be scooping ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery at the Portland and Brunswick locations from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Cold Stone Creamery is donating $.50 per cone and $3.00 per cake to the Pirates "A Day of Hockey" to benefit the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center throughout the week of February 13th-19th.

On Tuesday, February 28th, two Pirates team members will be visiting the Action Elementary School to promote the "Goals for Success" program. The "Goals for Success" program is sponsored by Healthy Maine Partnerships and Pepsi.
