Lincoln Stars News Release
Lincoln, Nebraska - The Stars entered Saturday looking to end a four-game losing streak in a showdown with the Tri-City Storm. The second meeting in four days produced a similar early result. Tri-City repelled an early push from the Stars with one of their own, scoring three times in the first off goals from Benji Eckerle (3), Blais Richartz (3), and Jake Crespi (5). Crespi's power play goal chased Tyler Johnson at 14:34 in to the first. Devlin McCabe kept the Stars in the contest with a power play goal of his own at 11:33 on a great feed from Shane Pinto, set up by Phil Lapointe. Mason Klee provided a key catalyst at the end of the first when he dropped the gloves with Brad Morrissey with 1:38 left in the frame.
Inspired, Lincoln came out the faster team in the second. They slowly built pressure, throughout the middle period, finally cashing in after an unsuccessful but dominant power play. Off the half-wall, Jordan Power found Logan Britt alone in front of Isaiah Saville, where the defenseman flipped the puck home at 12:54. Britt's third goal of the season sent the Stars to the locker room with momentum heading into the third.
That momentum was reversed quickly by Crespi's second goal of the contest, registered just 38 seconds into the third period. The Stars attempts to push back were continually stoned by Isaiah Saville. With the net empty late, the Stars surrendered a goal to Filip Forsmark to put the game out of reach. Michael Colella added one more for the Storm against Mucitelli to finalize a 6-2 for Tri-City.
Lincoln will return home Friday, November 30th to play Omaha at 7:05 pm. To purchase tickets, call the Stars Box Office at (402)-474 7827, or order tickets online!
