Storm Complete Perfect Week with Win over Lincoln

Lincoln, NE - The Tri-City Storm defeated the Lincoln Stars 6-2 at the Ice Box on Saturday night to complete a perfect week with a three-game sweep over in state rivals Omaha and Lincoln. Tri-City downed the Stars 7-2 at the Ice Box on Wednesday, posted a 3-0 home shutout over the Omaha Lancers Friday night, and defeated Lincoln again on Saturday night by a final score of 6-2. Tri-City maintained its 1st place lead in the Western Conference standings in the win. Tri-City will play its next five games at the Viaero Center in Kearney, beginning with a matchup with the Sioux Falls Stampede on Friday. Benji Eckerle jump started the Storm offense with a first period goal just over five minutes into the goal. Eckerle's 3rd goal of the season was assisted by Michael Colella. Blais Richartz netted another goal for the Storm at 8:10 of the 1st period to increase the Tri-City lead to two goals. The goal by Richartz was assisted by Brad Morrissey and Khristian Acosta. Lincoln's Devlin McCabe cut the Storm lead in half with a power play goal at 11:33 of the 1st period. The goal made it 2-1, but the Storm responded quickly with a power play goal from Jake Crespi at 14:34 of the 1st period. Stars goaltender Tyler Johnson was replaced by Jacob Mucitelli after the Storm's 3rd goal of the game. The Storm outshot the Stars 15-4 in the opening twenty minutes and took a 3-1 lead into the 2nd period.

Lincoln's Logan Britt scored the only goal of the 2nd period at 12:54 to bring the Stars back within one goal of the Tri-City lead. Britt's goal was assisted by Jordan Power, and the Stars outshot the Storm 14-6 in the 2nd period. Shots on goal favored the Storm 21-18 after the 2nd period.

Jake Crespi scored 38 seconds into the 3rd period to boost the Storm lead back to two goals. It was his 2nd goal of the game and 5th goal of the game and it gave Tri-City a 4-2 lead. Filip Forsmark netted an empty net goal with under three minutes to play to give Tri-City a 5-2 lead. The goal by Forsmark was his 3rd of the season. The Storm added one final goal with Michael Colella scoring his 3rd goal of the season, and 1st since being added to the Tri-City roster earlier in the week. Final shots on goal were 29-29.

Isaiah Saville recorded his 10th win of the season in net, stopping 27 of 29 Stars shots in the win.
