
Stars Fall to Legends

FRISCO, Tex. - The Salt Lake City Stars dropped their first game of the season tonight, falling 130-114 to the Texas Legends on the road at Dr. Pepper Arena. The Stars' record now stands at 2-1 (.667) this season.
The Stars were led by Willie Reed, who tallied team-highs of 27 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Reed, who connected on 11-of-16 (.688) from the floor tonight, is shooting 40-of-53 (.755) through three games with the Stars this season. Jairus Lyles posted his first career NBA G League double-double with 13 points and 10 assists, leading the Stars in helpers for the second-straight game. Tony Bradley, currently on assignment from the Utah Jazz, recorded 24 points and six rebounds in 27 minutes, while Utah Jazz two-way player Tyler Cavanaugh scored 15 points on 3-of-6 (.500) from three-point range. Utah Jazz two-way player Naz Mitrou-Long finished one assist shy of a double-double with 14 points and nine assists.
Texas guard Codi Miller-McIntyre recorded a triple-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds (all defensive) and 10 assists in 35 minutes. For the third-straight game of the season, Dallas Mavericks two-way player Daryl Macon led the Legends in scoring, finishing with a game-high-tying 27 points on 8-of-18 (.444) from the floor. Ray Spalding, currently on assignment from Dallas, recorded a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds, adding four steals and three assists.
There were 25 lead changes through the first three quarters and the Legends entered the fourth with a four-point advantage (100-96). The Stars shot 56.5 percent from the field in the first three periods of play, but Texas held Salt Lake City to 28.0 percent shooting in the final frame as the Legends expanded their lead to as many as 17 points, outscoring the Stars 30-18 in the fourth quarter. The Legends held the edge in rebounds (47-36), assists (30-27), steals (11-9) and turnovers (15-18).
The Stars will return to Salt Lake City for two home games at Bruin Arena next week, beginning with "Hoops for Troops" Night on Monday, Nov. 12, against Sioux Falls (Miami HEAT affiliate) and continuing with "Wizard Night presented by KeyBank" against South Bay (L.A. Lakers affiliate) on Thursday, Nov. 15.
