Lincoln Stars News Release
Muskegon, Mich. - The Stars went to overtime for their second consecutive game, but were unable to earn the extra point as they fell 5-4 to the Muskegon Lumberjacks in L.C. Walker Arena.
The Lumberjacks made it 1-0 at 4:18 of the first period when Collin Adams fired a one-timer past Stars goalie Peyton Jones. Rem Pitlick and Matej Paulovic earned assists.
Muskegon would hold its lead to the first intermission despite being outshot 12-6.
The Stars began capitalizing on their scoring chances in the second period.
Grant Jozefek helped even the score at 3:16 of the second period when he deked a defenseman behind the net and fired a no-look pass into the left circle for Tanner Laczynski. The power play goal marked Laczynski's 20th goal of the season.
Muskegon regained the lead two minutes later when Jones' stick became wedged in the dasher board and a quick play below the goal line sent the puck into the Stars net. Logan Drevitch was credited with the goal.
Mike Gillespie and Ludvig Hoff put the Stars back on the board later in the period to give Lincoln a 3-2 lead at the second intermission.
Jozefek's centering feed on Hoff's goal gave him a multi-point night after 40 minutes.
Chris Klack made it 3-3 only 16 seconds into the third period as scored a rebound off the blocker of Peyton Jones.
Laczynski added another to retake the lead, but USHL leading scorer Rem Pitlick buried a shorthanded 2-on-0 breakaway at 14:45 of the third to send the game into overtime.
Pitlick won it for the Lumberjacks in overtime with a one-timer power play goal.
Jones finished with 28 saves for the Stars.
The Stars return to the Ice Box on April 1 against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm. For tickets and more information log on to lincolnstars.com.
