Force Fall to Lancers

March 25, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Fargo Force News Release

Tonight the fourth ranked Fargo Force took on the sixth ranked Omaha Lancers after falling to them last Saturday 0-2 and then battling to defeat them the following night 3-2. Prior to tonight's game, the Lancers sat seven points behind the Force.

The Force entered into the first with strong, strategic play. Riley Tufte assisted by Jack Adams got things going for the Force as he waited on a shot and snagged a top shelf goal against the Lancer's goaltender Zackarias Skog. At just 2:15 into the first Tufte's goal put the Force up 1-0. The Force and the Lancers battled back and forth but neither team took total control of the game during the first. There were several turnovers from both teams, however, Fargo's defense remained strong only allowing Omaha three shots on goal while the Fargo had 11.

The Lancers answered back at 6:54 in the second slipping the puck through goaltender Ryan Wischow's five-hole. Both teams battled through the second but the Force were unable to capitalize.

The Lancers came alive in the third scoring one to take the lead at 5:13 and snagging another at 6:25 to take a two-goal lead. The Force wouldn't give up without a fight. With 8:00 minutes to go in the third Riley Tufte assisted by Blake Lizotte scored his second goal of the game to put the Force down by just a single goal 2-3. To the Force's dismay the Lancers responded at 18:47 with another goal, and winning the game 4-2.

Head coach Cary Eades commented that in the first period the Force were great five on five and that their penalty kill was up to par, but the Force's inability to capitalize on power-plays and for their play makers to make it in the net is what led to their defeat.

The Force take on the Lancers at Scheels Arena again Saturday night for Friends and Family Night with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Tickets are available at the Scheels Arena Box Office open Saturday at noon, on tickets300.com, or at the Tickets300 location on Broadway.
