SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, fell to the Agua Caliente Clippers 105-96 tonight in front of a standing room only crowd of 2,287 at Bruin Arena. The game featured a limited edition Donovan Mitchell bobblehead in ticket packages as part of tonight's "Utah Jazz Night presented by University of Utah Health" festivities.
The Stars (21-20) were led by Utah Jazz two-way player Naz Mitrou-Long, who finished with a season-high 32 points and a game-high-tying five assists. Utah Jazz two-way player Tyler Cavanaugh recorded his fifth-straight 20-point game with 20 points to go with a game-high nine rebounds. Isaac Haas tallied 11 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes, while Jairus Lyles scored 17 points and grabbed four boards off the bench.
The Clippers (22-19) were paced by LA Clippers assignment player Jerome Robinson, who finished with team-highs of 21 points, eight rebounds and three assists. LA Clippers two-way player Angel Delgado recorded 11 points and seven boards, and Manu Lecomte scored 20 points on 4-of-5 (.800) from three-point range.
There were eight lead changes in the first half of play, with the Clippers taking a four-point advantage (48-44) into intermission. The Stars trailed by one point (63-62) with 4:11 remaining in the third frame, but Agua Caliente went on a 21-4 run to end the third and start the fourth to take an 18-point lead (84-66), its largest of the game, with 9:25 remaining. The Stars cut the lead to five points (99-94) with 1:01 left, but the Clippers extended their advantage and earned the nine-point victory.
Salt Lake City will complete its fifth and final back-to-back set tomorrow night at the South Bay Lakers (Los Angeles Lakers affiliate). The game tips off at 6 p.m. (MT) and will be broadcast on Facebook Live, which is accessible via the Salt Lake City Stars Facebook page.
