OMAHA, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (28-20-1-1) scored twice in the shootout to seal a 3-2 win over the Omaha Lancers (31-14-2-2) on Friday night at Ralston Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Stars forward Collin Peters capitalized on the first power play for the road side with a shot from the right circle, giving the Stars a 1-0 lead. The Stars maintained a strong defensive front through the first two periods, stopping all 24 shots faced to that point.

Scoring kicked up in the third period starting with a goal from Lancers forward Filip Suchy at 0:40 on the power play as well as forward Michael Maloney at 14:53 to take a 2-1 lead. Stars forward Josiah Slavin extended his goal streak to six games with the game-tying goal at 15:54, sending the game into overtime at 2-2. In the shootout, Stars forwards Dominick Mersch and Paul Cotter scored in the first two rounds, and a two-save effort on the other end gave the Stars the 3-2 victory.

Stars goaltender Derek Schaedig (8-4-2) halted 36 of 38 shots as well as both in the shootout, while Lancers netminder Zach Driscoll (18-8-2) stopped 30 of 32 shots in the shootout loss. The Stars finish their six-game, nine-day stretch on Saturday, Mar. 17 at 7:05 p.m. against the Des Moines Buccaneers from Buccaneer Arena.
