
Stars Earn Wire-To-Wire Victory over Blue

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, secured a victory in front of Utah's Jordan School District at Vivint Arena as they defeated the Oklahoma City Blue 119-105 in the first game of a home back-to-back set.
All five starters for the Stars finished in double figures, with a total of three 20-plus point scorers. Jeenathan Williams paced Salt Lake City with a season-high 24 points on 8-of-17 (.470) from the floor and 6-of-9 (.666) from beyond the arc. Micah Potter returned from the Jazz to give a 20-point performance with 21 points on 8-of-15 (.533) shooting and a team-leading 13 rebounds. Coming off the bench, Rawle Alkins joined the game's double-digit ranks with 20 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Stars starters Frank Jackson secured 14 points, Paris Bass tallied 11, and Tyler Cook added 10, helping the shooting Stars to victory.
Oklahoma was led by Thunder assignment player, Jaylin Williams, who finished with a game-high 24 points on 8-of-13 (.800) shooting in 30 minutes of play. Forward Ousmane Dieng recorded 21 points and a game-high 16 rebounds paired with five assists. Three of the Blue's reserves, D.J. Wilson, Jaden Shackelford, and Robert Woodard II notched 12 points off the bench respectively.
The crowd of children brought a liveliness to Vivint arena with over a thousand cheering students. With the energy in the air, Salt Lake City jumped out in the first few minutes of play to secure a 19-10 run to start the game and built an eight-point lead by the end of the first quarter (23-19). The Stars held their advantage through the second quarter, taking a 15-point lead at intermission (65-50). The first half exploded with stars like Micah Potter and Jeenathan Williams. Potter claimed 14 points and grabbed seven boards in just over 15 minutes of play, while Williams showed out with 11 points in just his second start of the season. Jeenathan Williams stayed hot in the third quarter posting seven points and blocking two shots as the Stars expanded their lead to as many as 19-points at the end of the third frame (94-75). Oklahoma City outscored Salt Lake City 30-25 in the final frame and narrowed the lead to single digits late in the contest, but the Stars ultimately secured the wire-to-wire victory.
The Stars outshot the Suns from the field (.517-.481) and three-point range (.455-.250) and held the advantage in rebounds (43-35), and blocks (6-3). The Blue tallied more points in the paint (58-48), posted more second chance points (12-9) and racked up more assists (29-28).
Salt Lake City will face-off again against Oklahoma City tomorrow at the Maverik Center in their final home game of the season before heading off to the NBA G-League Showcase in Las Vegas. Tomorrow's contest tips off at 7 p.m. (MT) and will be broadcast live onESPN+.
