Lincoln, Neb. - The Fargo Force used a one-goal night to top the Stars, 1-0, on Saturday night at the Ice Box.
Fargo struck once in the first period, carrying a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
Force forward Shane McMahan scored a shorthanded goal at 8:25 of the period to give Fargo the one-goal edge. Austin Pooley was credited with the assist.
Shots in the first period were 13-6 in favor of the Force.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second period, though Lincoln took a 20-19 shot advantage after 40 minutes.
Lincoln was unable to find the game-tying goal in the third period as Fargo skated to a 1-0 win. Lincoln outshot Fargo 30-27.
Stars goaltender Patrik Virtanen made 26 saves.
Lincoln returns to action at the Ice Box on Friday, January 22. Puck drop against the Sioux City Musketeers is set for 7:05 pm.
