Iowa Chops News Release

WINNIPEG, MAN --- Tobias Stephan made 30 saves helping the Iowa Stars to a 4-1 win over the Manitoba Moose Wednesday night at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. The win was the Stars' first all-time in six tries on the Moose's home ice and gave them a split in the two game set as well as the four game season series. The road trip for Iowa continues this weekend with games in Houston Friday and Sunday.

Like they did last night in their 6-3 win, the Moose struck first. Jannik Hanson cashed in a weak side rebound 4:03 into the game to put his squad up 1-0. The Stars would then score the next four goals, two on the power play, one short handed and one into an empty net late to seal the victory.

Toby Petersen scored the first of the game for the Stars and his team leading 18th of the season on the power play at 16:40 of the first. Chris Conner and Chris Lee provided the assists.

The second period is where the Stars shined as they outscored the Moose 2-0 and outshot them 17-10, including 10-1 to start the period. Dan Jancevski's first goal since the January trade that brought him back to Iowa ended up as the game winner. He directed a Mark Bomersback rebound into the net on the power play at 4:36 to give the Stars a 2-1 lead.

Janos Vas added to that lead with his third shorthanded goal of the season at 14:07 of period two on a play started by Konstantin Pushkarev's steal at the Stars blueline. Vas' three shorties lead the team and tie him with Marius Holtet for the single season franchise mark.

James Neal scored his second goal in as many nights with :13 left into a vacated net to finish the scoring.

Neal, Vas and Jancevski each finished with a goal and an assist for the Stars. The Stars power play scored twice for the second straight night, going 2-for-4. The penalty kill was a perfect 4-for-4.
