HOUSTON, Texas - The top scoring offense proved too strong Wednesday night as the Chicago Wolves beat the Houston Aeros 6-1 at Allstate Arena. Ondrej Pavelec stopped 19 of 20 for his 19th win of the season and he was only beaten once by Aeros' defenseman Maxim Noreau.

Houston finished their six-game road trip 4-2-0-0 and will head home for a pair of games against the Iowa Stars on Friday and Sunday at Toyota Center. Chicago opened a 3-0 lead early in the second period and didn't look back as their top ranked power-play unit scored two goals in their first three opportunities.

Goaltender Barry Brust was pulled after the third goal at the 7:41 mark of the second period and was replaced by Anton Khudobin. The Aeros cut the lead to 3-1 at the 17:19 mark of the second period on Noreau's sixth goal of the season, a power-play goal, but that was the closest they would get.

Houston had their opportunity to get back in the game early in the third period when Brian Fahey went to the box for cross-checking but they couldn't convert and it was all Wolves after that.

Jesse Schultz, Joel Kwiatkowski and Doell each scored in the third period all even-strength goals to give them a 6-1 final. The Wolves out-shot Houston 39-20 in the game, recording 13 shots in each of the three periods.

Chicago's top power-play unit had two goals on six chances and the Aeros finished 1-4 on the power-play.
