February 13, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release
The Peoria Rivermen has a new goal - 10,000 pounds of clothes for Goodwill Industries on Saturday night, March 1st when the Rivermen face off against the Lake Erie Monsters at 7 pm!
Donations for the nonprofit agency will be accepted Saturday night at the Goodwill truck and at collection bins at Peoria Civic Center entrances and on the Carver Arena concourse. Hockey fans who bring a donation will receive a coupon for one free 12 ounce Coke product that night only.
To help make certain the Rivermen meet their goal, area Key Clubs are joining in the fun and will be gathering donations for the effort between February 1st and 15th. In return for their support, all participating Key Clubs will receive an exclusive discounted price for the night's game. As another incentive, Key Clubs can win one of two prizes for delivering the most pounds of clothes: the Rivermen will award the first place club an exclusive tour of the team's locker room. The second place team will win a pizza party. Winning teams will be announced on February 22nd. To participate in the Key Club challenge, contact the Rivermen Office at 309-680-3811. All ticket orders must be in by February 15th.
"We're pleased to partner with the Rivermen on March 1st which is 'Support Our Troops Night," says Patty Fuchs, president and CEO. "Many of the residents of our Goodwill Home for Veterans are big Rivermen fans, so they're excited about the game and grateful for the partnership between our two organizations."
According to Rivermen President and CEO Bart Rogers, "Our team enjoys giving back to the community, and we're asking our fans to jump on board with us and help out as much as possible.
