Stars center recalled by Edmonton

DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced this afternoon that the Edmonton Oilers (NHL) have recalled center Yan Stastny from the American Hockey League team.

Originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Stastny was acquired by the Oilers organization on August 30th, 2005 in exchange for the Bruins' 4th round selection in the 2006 Draft. The Quebec-born centerman departs Iowa as the team's fourth leading scorer with 31 points, including 17 assists: (14/17/31). Four of his goals have come on the power-play and one has come shorthanded.

Yan is the son of former NHL great, Peter Stastny. The elder Stastny played 15 seasons (977 games) for Quebec, New Jersey and St. Louis, notching 450 goals, 789 assists and 824 penalty minutes. He is 31st all-time with 1239 career points.
