Halak shuts out Rampage

San Antonio, TX - Bulldogs goaltender Jaroslav Halak stopped all 21 shots he faced as Hamilton defeated the San Antonio Rampage 1-0 on Tuesday night at the SBC Center. The win was the fifth straight for Hamilton and improves the team's record to 27-32-0-3. It was the first time this season that the Bulldogs have shutout an opponent.

There was no scoring in regulation time, with Hamilton outshooting San Antonio 41-21.

Bulldogs defenceman James Sanford scored the game's only goal 2:09 into the overtime period. Sanford lifted a backhand shot over the glove of San Antonio goaltender David LeNeveu. Corey Locke and Francis Lemieux earned the assists.

It was Halak's first career AHL shutout in only his second career AHL game. He was named the game's third star. LeNeveu stopped 43 shots and was named the game's first star.

Hamilton was 0 for 10 on the power play while San Antonio went 0 for 5.

The Bulldogs next game will take place on Thursday, March 2, when they face the Houston Aeros in the fifth game of their seven game road trip. Game time is 8:05 p.m. The Bulldogs next home game is Friday, March 10th when the Manitoba Moose visit Copps Coliseum. Game time is 7:30 p.m. This game can be seen live on Hamilton's Cable 14.
