Flames Trade Severson To Columbus

Omaha, NE - The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights announced today that the Calgary Flames, their National Hockey League affiliate, have traded forward Cam Severson to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for defenseman Cale Hulse. Hulse will report to Calgary. The Flames are back in action tonight when they host the Vancouver Canucks.

Severson played in 54 games for the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights, scoring 13 goals and seven assists for 20 points. He also earned 146 penalty minutes. The native of Canora, Saskatchewan was tied for the team lead in shorthanded goals with two.

Originally San Jose's eighth round draft choice in 1997, Severson is a veteran of 33 NHL games with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. He has also played in 319 AHL games with the Knights, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Hartford and Portland.

Hulse played in 27 games with the Blue Jackets this season, posting three assists and 43 penalty minutes. The 6'3", 220 lbs. rearguard has posted 94 points (16 goals, 78 assists) and 980 penalty minutes in 607 NHL career games with the New Jersey Devils, Flames, Nashville Predators, Phoenix Coyotes and Blue Jackets. The 33 year-old native of Calgary was drafted in the third round, 66th overall, by the Devils in the 1992 Entry Draft.

The Knights are back on the ice on Friday when they host the Manitoba Moose at 7:00 p.m. They'll finish the weekend on Sunday afternoon when they welcome the Peoria Rivermen at 5:00 p.m.
