Texas Stars News Release

CEDAR PARK, Texas - Jack Campbell stopped 23 shots in his season debut, but a four-goal first period was the difference on Wednesday night as the Texas Stars blew out the rival San Antonio Rampage in a 6-3 final in front of 5,526 at Cedar Park Center.

Campbell earned his franchise-leading 50th career win in net and Jason Dickinson scored a pair of goals for the Stars, including one shorthanded, to extend his point streak to five games. Roman Will stopped 35 shots for the Rampage (6-1-4-0), who are the last team to record a regulation loss in the AHL this season.

The Stars (8-3-0-1) wrap up their homestand on Saturday against Stockton at 7 p.m.

Three of the Stars' four goals in the first came in the game's opening seven minutes of play. Brendan Ranford set up Travis Morin in front with a crossing pass at 3:36 for his fourth of the season. Two minutes later, Cory Kane finished off his second goal of the year on a rebound chance after hopping off the bench for a line change and driving straight towards the net. Morin and Ranford then connected again only this time the Stars captain set up Ranford in the left circle for his fourth of the season and a 3-0 Stars lead.

With 3:11 remaining in the period, Dickinson forced a turnover at the Rampage blue line during a penalty kill sequence and snapped the third shorthanded goal of the season for Texas past Will for his first of the night.

The offense slowed a bit in period two as Joey Hishon made it a 4-1 score 4:20 in. Greg Rallo responded for Texas at 8:16 from the slot off Gemel Smith's feed from behind the net for a one-timer goal and his fifth of the season.

San Antonio tried to breathe some life into the game with two quick goals in the third. Andrew Agozzino scored his team-leading sixth of the season just 24 seconds in and Nikita Zadorov struck on a slap shot from the blue line for his second of the year to make it 5-3, Texas. However, Dickinson tapped home his second of the night off by poking a loose puck past Will in the right circle to set himself up for the empty-net goal and cement the Stars' eighth win of the year.

Dickinson now has five goals on the season after scoring twice on Wednesday. Justin Dowling also recorded an assist to extend his point streak to four games

Both teams finished 0-for-3 on the power play.

The Texas Stars are the primary development affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars and currently in their seventh season at Cedar Park Center.
