Canes Reassign Brock McGinn to Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Brock McGinn to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Recalled by the Hurricanes on Oct. 14, McGinn, 21, earned two points in his NHL debut at Detroit on Oct. 16 and totaled three points (2g, 1a) and in 12 games during his first NHL stint. The Fergus, Ont., native scored a pair of goals in two AHL games for Charlotte prior to his recall, and has earned 29 points (17g, 12a) in 79 career AHL games. Prior to turning professional, McGinn totaled 172 points (93g, 79a) in 227 career Ontario Hockey League (OHL) games for Guelph between 2010 and 2014, helping the Storm reach the Memorial Cup championship game in 2014. Carolina's second-round selection (47th overall) in the 2012 NHL Draft, McGinn (6'0", 185 lbs.) is the younger brother of Buffalo Sabres forward Jamie McGinn and Syracuse Crunch (AHL) forward Tye McGinn.
