
Derek Mathers & Jesper Pettersson Reassigned to Reading

Lehigh Valley, PA - The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have reassigned forward Derek Mathers and defenseman Jesper Pettersson from Lehigh Valley to the Reading Royals of the ECHL.
A 22-year-old winger from Strathroy, Ontario, Mathers is in the midst of his third professional season and has compiled 12 penalty minutes in three games with the Phantoms this year. He paced all Lehigh Valley skaters with 19 fights a year ago in a season in which the 6'3", 226-pound forward produced two goals and 147 penalty minutes across 40 games. He also appeared in three games with the Royals a season ago during which he registered one assist and 14 penalty minutes. Mathers was a seventh-round selection (206th overall) by the Flyers in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
A 21-year-old defenseman from Stockholm, Sweden, Pettersson is in his second professional season after producing two goals, five assists, seven points and 35 penalty minutes in 51 games with the Phantoms during his rookie campaign. He was a seventh-round selection (198th overall) by Philadelphia in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
The Phantoms return to action tonight as they travel to Binghamton for a rivalry rematch with the Senators. The two sides faced off this past Sunday at PPL Center with visiting Binghamton claiming a 4-1 win in downtown Allentown. The Phantoms then return home to PPL Center for a pair of games this weekend. First, on Friday, November 13, it's T-Shirt Giveaway Night as the Rochester Americans, the AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres, make their first-ever visit to Lehigh Valley. The first 8,500 fans in attendance this Friday will receive a free Go & Grow Movember t-shirt. Then, it's Boy Scout Night on Saturday, November 14 when the Albany Devils make their first and only stop at PPL Center this season. Puck drop for both nights is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

In the midst of their 20th season of operation, the Phantoms are coming off their Inaugural Season as the Lehigh Valley Phantoms playing at the brand-new PPL Center. Established in 1996, the Phantoms spent their first 13 seasons at the Spectrum in Philadelphia before re-locating to Glens Falls, New York in 2009 where the team spent the next five seasons as the Adirondack Phantoms. A new era of Phantoms hockey began in the fall of 2014 when the Lehigh Valley Phantoms began play at the state-of-the-art PPL Center. Through 19 incredibly successful campaigns, the Phantoms have captured two Calder Cup Championships (1998, 2005), two Conference Championships (1998, 2005), two Regular Season Titles (1996-97, 1997-98) and four Division Championships (1996-97, 1997-98, 1998-99, 2003-04).
