Stamps Take Tsoumpas

April 30, 2008 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release

With the second overall pick of Tuesday's CFL Canadian Draft, the Calgary Stampeders selected offensive lineman Dimitri Tsoumpas. Tsoumpas was a four-year starter at Weber State. The six-foot four, 315 pound lineman was named to the Big Sky second-team all-conference team in 2007.

"Dimitri is a young, athletic, versatile lineman and we are pleased to be able to acquire him," said Hufnagel. "He has proven at Weber State that he can play different positions on the line and I look forward to him coming in to camp ready to compete."

The Stampeders acquired the second selection through a trade with the Edmonton Eskimos that sent the 11th overall pick (second round) in today's CFL Draft, the 19th overall pick (third round), receiver Kevin Challenger and offensive lineman John Comiskey to the Eskimos in exchange for the second overall pick and 10th overall pick (second round).
