(Calgary) - The Calgary Stampeder Football Club announced today that they have acquired Offensive Lineman Garrick Jones and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 1st and 5th round Canadian College Draft picks (2007) in exchange for Offensive Lineman Alexandre Gauthier and the Calgary Stampeders 3rd round Canadian College Draft pick (2007).
"Any time you can acquire the 3rd overall pick it helps to bolster your Canadian talent pool," said General Manager Jim Barker. "Garrick Jones has shown the ability to be a dominating left tackle in this league."
Jones signed with the Blue Bombers as a free agent on September 11, 2006. Before joining the team he spent three seasons with the Houston Texans from 2003-05. In 2002 Jones was a late addition to Blue Bombers playing his first CFL game on October 6 vs the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
