BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Stampede defeated the Bakersfield Jam, 100-88, on Saturday at CenturyLink Arena, marking their first home victory of the season.
Idaho jumped out to an early lead, outscoring Bakersfield 32-19 in the first quarter. The Stampede maintained control throughout the game, increasing their lead to as much as 22 points. Bakersfield put up a strong third quarter to get back in the game, but were out scored by Idaho 23-17 in the fourth quarter.
"We played really good basketball on both ends of the court tonight, and did a really good job correcting the mistakes from last night," said Head Coach Dean Cooper. "The guys played hard and executed big plays that paid off in the end."
Three Stampede players scored in double figures. Jeff Ayres led Idaho with 22 points and seven rebounds. Minnesota Timberwolves assignee Tyus Jones registered 22 points, three assists and three rebounds, while Brandon Fields added 17 points and five rebounds. Phil Pressey had a game-high eight assists off the bench.
Three players for Bakersfield scored in double figures. Earl Clark scored a game-high 29 points and nine rebounds. Xavier Munford registered 22 points and three assists, while Terrico White recorded 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Stampede will travel to Bakersfield to take on the Jam Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. MT.
