
D-Fenders Fall to Spurs at Home

EL SEGUNDO - The D-Fenders fell to the Bakersfield Jam 108-103 tonight in El Segundo.
Ryan Kelly scored a game-high 34 points, while grabbing nine rebounds for Los Angeles (6-6). Tarik Black recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Jamaal Franklin (14 points, seven assists, six rebounds), Michael Frazier (13 points), Anthony Brown (10 points, five rebounds) and Justin Harper (10 points) all scored in double-digits for the D-Fenders.
Cady Lalanne (27 points, 11 rebounds) and Keifer Sykes (27 points) paced the Spurs (9-2). Deshaun Thomas (16 points, eight rebounds), Demetri McCamey (15 points, nine assists), Orlando Johnson (12 points) and Youssou Ndoye (11 points) all reached double-figures for Austin.
The Lakers assignees came out on a mission, with Black scoring 13 points and grabbing seven rebounds in the first quarter, while Kelly scored 11 as the D-Fenders outscored the Spurs 33-27 in the quarter. The Spurs turned it around in the second, outscoring the D-Fenders 29-22 behind 11 points each from Sykes and Lalanne. Harper had eight for Los Angeles, who trailed 56-55 at the halftime break.
Kelly scored 13 points in the third quarter for the D-Fenders, who were outscored 27-25 by Austin. Kelly had 25 points through three quarters, as the D-Fenders trailed 83-80 heading into the final frame. The fourth quarter was a struggle for Los Angeles, as the D-Fenders were outscored 33-25, leaving Los Angeles with a 116-105 defeat.
The D-Fenders shot .448, while Austin finished at .519. The Spurs outrebounded the D-Fenders 47-40, and connected on 10-21 three-point attempts, compared to 6-21 for Los Angeles.
Los Angeles hosts the Idaho Stampede on Friday, December 18th at 7:30pm PT.
