Idaho Stampede News Release

Frisco, TEXAS (April 1, 2015) - The Stampede lost to the Texas Legends 120-123 on Wednesday night in Frisco, Texas. Idaho led by three points heading into the final minute, but was unable to finish the game.

Utah Jazz assignee Grant Jerrett hit a 3-pointer with 59 seconds remaining in the game to give the Stampede a three point advantage. Texas guard Justin Dentmon quickly responded with a lay-up, pulling the home team within two points. After burning some clock, the Stampede's Jerrelle Benimon had a chance to give Idaho some breathing room, but missed a 3-foot hook shot. Dentmon again drove hard to the lane and put in the lay-up to give the Legends the lead.

Coach Cooper and the Stampede went back to Benimon straight off the inbounds play but Benimon was met by some contact from Texas forward Eric Griffin. Benimon lost the ball and failed to draw the foul as Texas scooped up the loose ball. After an intentional foul, Griffin knocked down both free-throws with seven seconds in the game. In a last-second effort, Shane Gibson's game-tying attempt rimmed out as the Legends held on for the 123-120 win.

Benimon led the Stampede with 23 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. It marked the 21st double-double for Benimon on the season and the 13th game the forward has led the Stampede in assists. Cunningham finished with a team-high 23 points while Brandon Fields pitched in with 20 points and five assists.

Griffin's 25 points led all scorers. Texas forward Jarrid Famous posted 20 points and 23 rebounds down low. Long time NBA veteran Mike James added 20 points, 12 assists and six rebounds in 43 minutes.

Idaho travels next to Oklahoma City to take on the Blue on Friday night.
