Erie BayHawks News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania, Wednesday, April 1, 2015 - The Erie BayHawks (23-25) took down the Delaware 87ers (19-29) for the third consecutive game Wednesday night 122-111. Erie has now won 10 of their last 14 games, dating back to February 25, and were victors of five matches against the 87ers in the six-game season series.
Seth Curry started the game 6 of 6 from the field and scored 17 of Erie's first 22 points. Despite Curry's hot start, Delaware used consistent scoring from their starting lineup to stay within striking distance. Erie shot 58% (25-43) in the first half while Delaware struggled, shooting 41% (20-48). The percentage advantage lifted Erie to an eight-point lead heading into halftime.
A 7-0 run to start the third and 6-0 run minutes later gave Erie their largest lead of the game at 15. The 87ers would cut it to as many as seven in the fourth quarter, but couldn't narrow the gap any closer. The win keeps Erie's chances of finishing the season with a .500 record alive, despite once holding a 13-21 record on February 22.
Seth Curry finished with a game high 24 points while Keith Appling recorded his first double-double as a BayHawk with 19 points and 11 assists. John Bohannon was one rebound away from his third double-double in his last four games and finished with 18 points. Former Penn State-Behrend standout and BayHawks practice player Russ Conley, who was acquired Wednesday, entered the game in the closing minute and went 1 of 1 from the field with two points in his NBA Development League debut.
Joel Wright for the 87ers came off the bench to lead the team in scoring with 21. Starters Drew Gordon and Jordan McRae each scored 20, while Gordon also snagged a game high 17 rebounds.
Erie heads to Grand Rapids to take on the Drive Friday night in their last road game of the year. The BayHawks then head back home to close out the 2014-15 season Saturday night at 7:00 PM against the Oklahoma City Blue.
