
Legends Trample Stampede

FRISCO, TX, (Apr. 1, 2015) - The Texas Legends hosted the Idaho Stampede in the third matchup of the two teams. After splitting a series in Boise, the Legends took home a last second victory in the first of a three-game home stretch.
Eric Griffin knocked down a long ball for the first shot of the night to give the Legends the immediate lead. Texas went up by as many as nine in the first quarter, the largest lead of the game, as Booker Woodfox went 3-for-3 from outside. Idaho's Grant Jerrett sunk his first free throw then blocked a final Legends attempt to tie up the match at 33 at the buzzer. Jared Cunningham had 11 of his 23 points in the second quarter but the Stampede's 45.8% shooting would not match up to the Legends' 54.5% as Texas took a three-point lead into halftime.
The Legends maintained their lead throughout the third quarter before a Nick Wiggins free throw would tie the game at 90 with seconds on the clock. The final quarter saw 12 lead changes and 10 ties with the Stampede taking their largest lead of the night at five with just under 10 minutes to play. Griffin had nine points to lead the Legends including two free throws with seven seconds on the clock to give the Legends the 123-120 victory.
Griffin and Justin Dentmon grabbed a game-high 25 points each while Jarrid Famous tallied a double-double of 20 points and a game-high 23 rebounds. Mike James also added a game-high 12 assists with 20 points.
Cunningham led the Stampede with 23 points while Jerrelle Benimon added 22 points, 11 rebounds.
The Legends will return to the court Friday to host the Maine Red Claws at 7pm before a rematch with the Stampede on Saturday in the team's season finale. The games will be broadcast live on television-Texas 47-as well as radio-KVCE 1160am. For tickets or information call 214-469-0822.
