Idaho Stampede News Release

BOISE, Idaho, December 31, 2009 - Your Idaho Stampede announced today that the team has acquired guard Donell Taylor from the Erie BayHawks.

Taylor was drafted second overall by the BayHawks in the 2009 NBA Development League Draft. In 13 games this season, Taylor has averaged 18.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per contest.

Taylor attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham with his twin brother, Ronnel Taylor who played for the Stampede in the 2006-07 season. Taylor was undrafted out of college but signed with the NBA's Washington Wizards as a free agent in 2005. He played with the Wizards for two seasons before being released in the summer of 2008. Taylor spent the 2008-09 season overseas in Greece with club Maroussi.

"It's tough to lose a player like Mike Gansey," said Stampede Head Coach Bob MacKinnon. "But, I am excited to add Donell to our team and know our fans who remember his Brother Ronell will be as well."

To make room on the roster, the Stampede traded guard Mike Gansey to the Erie BayHawks. Taylor is expected to join the team this Monday night when the Stampede take on the Springfield Armor in the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase in Boise.
