December 31, 2009 - NBA G League (G League)
Iowa Wolves News Release
PORTLAND, ME, Dec. 31, 2009 - The Iowa Energy opened their five game road trip with a 95-88 loss to the Maine Red Claws Thursday afternoon in Portland, Maine. The loss drops Iowa to 11-2 on the season while Maine improved to 9-3.
The Energy were without the services of star Cartier Martin, who missed the game with an illness. Without Martin, the Energy had their lowest offensive scoring output of the year.
Iowa struggled offensively in the 1st quarter, falling behind 24-14 after the first twelve minutes. Iowa would battle back, but an opportunistic Maine squad put Iowa away with a 16-7 run that spanned most of the 4th quarter.
The Energy were led by guard Jeff Trepagnier, who finished with 26 points including six 3-pointers. Center Earl Barron added 21 points and 10 rebounds for Iowa.
Maine was led by Mario West's 16 point, 7 rebound, 7 assist game. Center Alexis Ajinca, assigned by the Charlotte Bobcats to Maine, finished with 16 points and 9 rebounds.
Iowa's road trip continues with a game at the Springfield (MA) Armor tomorrow night at 6pm Central. The Energy's next home game is Saturday, January 9th, their annual "70's Night Throwback Game". This year's throwback game will take place at Veteran's Memorial Auditorium in downtown Des Moines.
