
Thunderbirds Lose To Flash In Utah

OREM, UTAH, Dec. 31, 2009 - Carlos Powell led all scorers with 29 points, but the Albuquerque Thunderbirds fell to the Utah Flash on Thursday night, 105-94. The team falls to 1-2 on its current road trip.
Albuquerque got out to a 27-24 lead at the end of the first quarter, and pushed the lead to 61-48 at halftime. Utah outscored the T-Birds by 12 in the third quarter to close the gap to one, and was able to pull away in the fourth for the 11 point victory.
Chad Toppert added a career high 20 points for the Thunderbirds. Kevin Pittsnogle also scored 20, while Shane Edwards added 12 in the loss. Kurt Looby grabbed a game high 10 rebounds in his T-Birds debut.
Dontell Jefferson led the way for Utah with 27 points. Luke Nevill added 20 for the Flash.
Both teams shot well from the floor, as Utah (55.4%) and Albuquerque (50.8%) both finished above 50% for the game.
The Thunderbirds will continue their road trip when they again take on the Utah Flash on Jan. 2. The game will begin at 7:00 pm MT, and fans can either listen in on 96.3 KBZU or watch the game live on NBA Futurecast.
