BayHawks Make New Year's Eve Trade

ERIE - The Erie BayHawks have announced a trade, sending guard Donell Taylor to the Idaho Stampede in exchange for guard Mike Gansey.

Gansey, a former standout at West Virginia, was the BayHawks first overall pick in the 2008/09 expansion draft, but opted to play in Europe last season. Through 11 games with the Stampede he has averaged 21 minutes and 9.6 points per game.

The trade brings the Olmstead Falls, Ohio native back to the region. While in high school, Gansey finished second in Ohio Mr. Basketball voting to LeBron James. Gansey will make his Tullio Arena debut the weekend of January 9 & 10, with the game on the tenth marking BayHawks Ohio Neighbors Day, with a 2 PM tipoff vs. the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

The BayHawks are on the road for a New Year's Day match up with the Maine Red Claws, in a 5 PM tipoff and the Springfield Armor on Saturday in a 12 PM matinee game. Both games will be carried live on WFNN 1330 AM and streamed free on the NBA Futurecast link from ErieBayHawks.com.

The team will travel to Boise, Idaho to take part in the NBA Development League Showcase with games against the Reno Bighorns, Wednesday January 6 at 12:00 PM and the Los Angles D-fenders, Thursday, January 7, at 3:45 PM. Both games will be carried live on WFNN 1330 AM and streamed free on the NBA Futurecast link from ErieBayHawks.com.

The BayHawks next home game is set for Saturday, January 9, 7 PM tipoff vs. the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. The game will feature a High School Hoops Showcase, with Mercyhurst and McDowell girls at 3:30 PM and the Mercyhurst and Fairview boys set for 5:00 PM. One ticket is good for admission to all three games.
