Stampede Acquire Alabi

BOISE, Idaho, December 28, 2012 - Solomon Alabi (7-1, 252, Florida State, b. 3/21/88) was acquired by the Idaho Stampede, the club announced today. Alabi is expected to play in this weekend's set of home games against the Reno Bighorns.

Alabi played for the Toronto Raptors from 2010-12 in 26 games, where he averaged 1.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. In the last game of 2011-12, Alabi totaled new career highs with 11 points and 19 rebounds in a 98-67 win against the New Jersey Nets on April 26.

Originally from Nigeria, the center played three seasons at Florida State, where he averaged 9.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game in 76 career games. Alabi was drafted 50th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks before being traded to the Toronto Raptors on draft night.

In his two seasons in the NBA, Alabi has been assigned to the NBA D-League to play with the Erie BayHawks (2010-11) and Bakersfield Jam (2011-12). In his career, Alabi has played 30 games (23 starts) and averaged 7.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game with Erie (22 games, 16 starts in 2010-11) and Bakersfield (9 games, 8 starts in 2011-12).

Alabi will wear jersey number 41 for the Stampede and the team has put Jai Lucas on the inactive list in order to make room on the roster for the move.
