D-Fenders Slip up Versus Energy

DES MOINES, IA - The Los Angeles D-Fenders fell 104-100 to the Iowa Energy at Wells Fargo Arena in the first meeting between the teams this season.

Leading by as many as 18 points in the second quarter and up 55-44 at halftime, the D-Fenders (5-5) were outscored by 11 in the third frame and tied with the Energy at 77 heading into the fourth. After seven lead changes and nine ties in the final quarter, the D-Fenders were outlasted by the Energy and saw their three-game win streak snapped.

The D-Fenders were led by Darius Johnson-Odom (21 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists) and Courtney Fortson (21 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists) on Friday night. Additionally, Elijah Millsap contributed 15 points to go with six rebounds, Orien Greene scored 12 points and Jarrid Famous posted 11 points along with two blocks in the loss.

Paul Harris (30 points, 18 rebounds) and Morris Almond (27 points, 8 rebounds) lifted Iowa (4-7) by combining for 57 points and 26 rebounds in the win. Meanwhile, Denver Nuggets assignment player Quincy Miller pitched in 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Chris Wright tallied 13 points, six rebounds and nine assists for the Energy.

Los Angeles will play its final game of 2012 and wrap up its two-game series versus Iowa tomorrow at 7pm CT (5pm PT) in Des Moines.
