Erie, Pennsylvania, Friday, December 28 - The Erie BayHawks have acquired former University of Illinois guard Demetri McCamey from the free agent player pool on Friday.

McCamey (6-3, 200, Illinois) spent the first month of the season with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers prior to his release on Christmas day. With the Vipers, he averaged 2.1 points in nine minutes of action per night.

While with the Fighting Illini, he led the team in scoring during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Following his collegiate career, McCamey professionally in Turkey with Mersin Buyuksehir Belediyesi S.K. and in Israel for Hapoel Jerusalem B.C. during the 2011 -12 season.

To make room on the roster, the BayHawks released rookie guard Oscar Bellfield.

The BayHawks return home tonight to face the Austin Toros and Saturday against Fort Wayne.
