Tulsa, OK - The Arkansas Travelers mounted and successfully executed a ninth inning rally in Thursday night's 4-3 win over the Tulsa Drillers at ONEOK Field.
With Arkansas trailing 3-2 in the ninth with two outs and runners on second and third, SS Eric Stamets drove a 1-1 pitch off the top of the wall in left for a triple that put the Travs up 4-3.
The Drillers loaded the bases in the bottom of the frame with one out, but LHP Greg Mahle (S, 7) induced a groundball double play to second that ended the game.
The win was the first for the Travs this season in which they entered the ninth inning trailing.
Stamets also contributed a bases loaded two-run single with two outs in the second to tie the game 2-2 at the time. Stamets produced all four Arkansas runs.
RHP Albert Suarez surrendered three early runs, but settled into a monstrous zone and recorded 13 outs over the final 13 batters he faced. In total, Suarez allowed the three runs on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts over seven innings.
RHP Danny Reynolds (W, 1-2) earned his first 2015 win with a 1-2-3 eighth inning.
Drillers' starter RHP Jose De Leon struck out 10 Travs over five innings.
Arkansas trailed 2-0 after one inning, tied the game 2-2 on the Stamets single in the second, then trailed 3-2 from the end of the third until the ninth.
Arkansas stole four bases in the game, including 3B Drew Maggi's team-leading 20th of the season which is fifth-best in the Texas League.
With the win, Arkansas moved into a tie for second place in the Texas League North Second Half Standings with Tulsa, one game behind the Springfield Cardinals. Overall, Arkansas is 46-43 this season.
The Travelers and Drillers will play game three of the four-game series on Friday night at ONEOK Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.Â
