Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

FRISCO - Nick Williams homered twice and Corpus Christi managed only one hit Thursday night as the Riders rolled to a 7-0 triumph at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Chan-Jong Moon's lead-off single in the sixth off Jose Leclerc accounted for the lone Hooks knock.

Williams set the tone with a lead-off homer in the first. Brian Holmes permitted the next two to reach with Ryan Cordell coming home on an Alex Burg sac fly. The 37-pitch frame ended when Preston Beck flew out to left field, stranding three on base.

Holmes fanned two in a scoreless second but ran into more trouble in the third. Burg singled and Trever Adams walked to begin the inning. The pair scored via a two-out double by Preston Beck, which knocked Holmes out of the game.

Williams started the fourth with his second blast of the night, a deep drive to left field off Juan Minaya for a 5-0 Frisco bulge.

Singles by Luis Mendez and Beck opened the fifth. Mendez later crossed the pay station courtesy of a wild pitch.

Cordell's triple off Travis Ballew in the seventh set the stage for the final Riders run.

Frisco (12-7, 41-48) left 14 on base and went 1-for-16 with men in scoring position.

The Hooks (10-10, 58-32) hit into three double plays and failed to capitalize on eight walks.

Frisco sends veteran southpaw Edwar Cabrera (2-1, 3.55) to the mound Friday night. The Hooks counter with Adrian Houser (0-2, 4.74). First pitch is 7:05.
