St. Pierre Called Up To AHL Norfolk

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Nick St. Pierre has been called up to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. This marks St. Pierre's second trip to the AHL this season, after he appeared in five games with the Gladiators' affiliate Syracuse Crunch, where he recorded two assists. The 24-year-old rookie also made his professional debut with the Crunch near the end of last season, recording an assist and eight penalty minutes in 10 games in Syracuse.

A St. Etienne, PQ native, St. Pierre was acquired by the Gladiators on February 1st from the Reading Royals. Between the two teams, he has appeared in 45 ECHL games this season, registering six goals and 15 assists while serving 29 penalty minutes.

Prior to making his pro debut with Syracuse last season, the 6-foot, 185-pound defenseman skated four collegiate seasons at New York State's Colgate University, where he recorded 14 goals and 48 assists for 62 points in 147 total outings with the Raiders. He becomes the 11th Gladiator player to be called up to the next level this season.

The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL on Thursday, March 11th @ Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
