Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Matt Dalton has been assigned by the Boston Bruins from the Providence Bruins of the AHL to the Royals. Also, in a separate transaction, forward Ryan Cruthers was returned to the Royals from the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL.

After being reassigned by Boston to the Royals last Tuesday-and picking up the win that night in Trenton-Dalton was recalled to Boston on an emergency basis on Thursday, March 4. He served as a back-up for Tim Thomas that night in the Bruins' game against the Toronto Maple Leafs and was then assigned to the Providence Bruins where he played in two games over the weekend. On Saturday, he stopped all fourteen shots he faced in 25:01 worth of game time after coming on in substitution of Kevin Regan in Providence's 4-1 loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. On Sunday, Dalton stopped twenty-eight of thirty shots in sixty-five minutes of hockey before losing in a shootout to the Lowell Devils, 3-2. In thirty-seven games with Reading this year, Dalton has compiled a record of 17-18-0-2 with a 3.55 goals against average and a.905 save percentage.

Cruthers was loaned to Norfolk last Wednesday and played in three games for the Admirals this past weekend without registering any points or penalty minutes. That marked the second trip to Norfolk this season for Cruthers, who has picked up one assist and two penalty minutes in eight total games with the Admirals. In forty-seven games for the Royals this year, Cruthers has registered fifty-five points (15g-40a) and fifty-three penalty minutes.

The Royals return to action on Friday (March 12, 2010 @ 7:05) when the team travels to the Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, for the last time in team history where they'll take on the Johnstown Chiefs. The Royals game night broadcast on the Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast will begin at 6:35 pm.
